Nationwide search for America’s next professional rugby athletes continues in San Jose (Feb. 25) and Los Angeles (March 1)

(SAN JOSE / LOS ANGELES – Feb. 14, 2024)  Premier Rugby Sevens (PR7s), the highest professional level of rugby sevens in the United States, will host Talent ID Trials in San Jose on Sunday, Feb. 25, and Los Angeles on Friday, March 1. The California tryouts will allow for club players and crossover athletes to make a future roster spot on one of the eight PR7s franchises and join many of the world’s best rugby sevens stars. Prior to the San Jose tryouts, PR7s will also host a Youth Rugby Clinic on the same day.

Players interested in trying out must be at least 18 and can sign up at prsevens.com/talent. Parents interested in registering their child for the youth clinic in San Jose (grades 1st to 12th) can sign up at form.jotform.com.

“California is known for producing talented, world-class athletes, both in and out of rugby,” said Berkeley- native Kelly Griffin, a 2016 Olympian and Head Coach of the women’s Golden State Retrievers. Griffin will be an evaluator at both tryouts.

Griffin continued, “The ID Trials are an opportunity for lesser-known athletes to put themselves on our radar and start their journey to become a top-tier rugby player. Whether you play rugby as your primary sport or have excelled in another sport and you are looking to crossover, I encourage you to sign up.”
