(NEW YORK, June 16, 2023) Premier Rugby Sevens (PR7s), the U.S.-based professional rugby sevens competition featuring top global male and female players, announced GoodSport® has been named the “Official Sports Drink” of the 2023 season, which kicks off at Q2 Stadium in Austin on June 17.

GoodSport(r) products will fuel nearly 200 elite PR7s athletes who compete and train on 16 teams. Eight men’s rosters and eight women’s rosters feature Olympians, Gold Medalists, U.S. National Team players, international superstars, and emerging talent. PR7s’ American broadcast partners include FS1 and CBS Sports Network, and its European broadcast partner is DAZN.

“Rugby has an incredibly engaged and passionate fanbase, and Premier Rugby Sevens is driving the sport’s growth here in America,” said GoodSport Nutrition Founder & CEO Michelle McBride. “We love that PR7s is founded on equality including equality of pay for both male and female athletes. On the field, the sport is electric, and we look forward to fueling their athletes at tournaments and training across the U.S. this season.”

GoodSport®,made with naturally sourced ingredients has 3x the electrolytes and 33% less sugar than traditional sports drinks and has been scientifically shown to provide rapid and long-lasting hydration and improve exercise performance.   GoodSport(r) will honor the women’s MVP at the PR7s Championship Tournament.

“In the first week of training leading up to our kickoff tournament in Austin, the players in PR7s have seen amazing results hydrating their bodies with GoodSport during very hot conditions,” said Adam Robbins, Chief Revenue Officer for Premier Rugby Sevens. “We’re looking forward to GoodSport fueling our competitions throughout the summer.”

In 2023, PR7s tournaments will bring the famous rugby sevens festival experience to Austin at Q2 Stadium for the Eastern Conference Kickoff (Saturday, June 17), Minneapolis at TCO Stadium for the Western Conference Kickoff (June 24, 2023), San Jose at PayPal Park for the Western Conference Finals (Saturday, July 15), and Pittsburgh at Highmark Stadium for the Eastern Conference Finals (Sunday, July 23).

PR7s tournaments include eight 14-minute games, rotating between the men’s and women’s competitions on the same day. Each event will crown a men’s and women’s winner. The season-long competition will build towards the 2023 PR7s Championship, where one franchise will take home the 2023 PR7s United Championship – an unprecedented prize that combines the men’s and women’s results. Additionally, the last men’s team standing will take home the A. Jon Prusmack Cup, and the women’s prize is the Kathy Flores Cup, honoring two major pioneers in American rugby.
